Opportunity: Photography Walks Project

Posted on: 7 January 2010

We’d like to create a different kind of forum for talking about photography and producing work. This is the Photography Walks Project. If you can, come along to the Lit and Phil. on Wednesday 19th January at 5.30 to find out more!

No marathons or power walks intended: we’ll simply stroll! (And don’t worry — we’ll wait until it’s much warmer and lighter before  taking to the streets). Whilst walking, we talk about photographic stuff. The catch is that no cameras are allowed on these group walks.  We will be asking if it possible to ‘see’ or ‘discover’ a place photographically, without actually snapping an image or getting out the camera -phone.

Instead, we will invite you to take/make considered photographs after the walk, but in response to the conversations and the walk itself.  The work produced can be uploaded onto our new  ‘My Walk’ web-site. There will also be a curated show of photographic prints from the ‘My Walk’ project, which will coincide with an international photography conference in Sunderland (Versatile Image: the Photographic image in the age of Web 2.0, which is happening 24th – 26th June 2011).

More details coming soon!
